We have been notified that printing services have been restored. ITS staff will confirm and update if necessary.

Printing is currently unavailable throughout our Southend Campus due to a fault. We have logged this with our print solution provider who are investigating.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We’ll update you as soon as we have more information.

[Service Alert] Power cut on Colchester campus yesterday evening

There was a power outage at the Colchester campus yesterday which affected a significant number of our IT services. Power was restored at 22:38, however, some computers and other services may still be affected today, such as remoting into your computer on campus.

If you have any issues, please contact the IT Helpdesk, and will help you as soon as we can.

[Service Alert] Issue with printers in Silberrad Student Centre (Colchester Campus)

This issue is now resolved. Thank you for your patience while we got this fixed.

Identified, 1.45pm

Printing is currently unavailable on the ground floor of the Silberrad Student Centre at Colchester Campus, due to a fault. Other areas of the Silberrad Student Centre are unaffected.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. We’ll update you as soon as we have more information.

[Resolved] Problem with printing across all campuses

Printing services are back to normal. If you’re still having trouble please let the IT Helpdesk know.

Good news – the fix has been applied and you should now be able to print again. We are continuing to monitor the situation. Sorry for any disruption this may have caused and thanks again for your patience.

Update, 3.35pm

All printing will be temporarily unavailable from 3.40pm for around 10 minutes so we can apply a fix. Updates to follow.

Update, 2.23pm

Unfortunately due to more technical issues the number of working printers is now around 50%. Our teams are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Update, 12.18pm

90% of printers are now working. If your nearest printer still isn’t working please email it.helpdesk@essex.ac.uk with the printer number on the front that starts ‘MCPS’ so we can investigate further.

In the meanttime please find your next nearest available printer.

Sorry again for the disruption to printing.

Staff printing currently unavailable

The printing service should now be functioning normally. If you had submitted a job to the print queue whilst the service was having problems (between 1pm and 5pm) then you may need to resubmit the job. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

There is currently an issue with printing to the centrally managed printers, affecting only staff on our Colchester campus. As a result, any print jobs submitted after 1pm today will not be processed and will need to be submitted again, once the issue has been resolved.

We are looking into the cause of the issue and will post an update when available.
