[Service Alert] Problem with power in the Library

An issue was identified with the power and has been fixed.  We are monitoring the situation to ensure that all services are restored as quickly as possible.

Investigating, 10:53am

We’re currently investigating reports of a power cut affecting staff across several floors in the library on the Colchester Campus.

We’ll post another update here as soon as we learn more.

Investigating 19 February 2021 11.00am

We’re currently investigating reports that some historical timetabling events are missing from Outlook calendars.

Timetabling data for today and into the future has not been affected.

All timetabling data, including all historical events, are available under https://www1.essex.ac.uk/timetables/login.aspx

We’ll post another update as soon as we learn more.

Planned SIP phone system upgrades are happening soon

Deferred Maintenance

Our system maintainer has requested we apply an emergency upgrade to the SIP phone system which was originally scheduled for:

  • Thursday 18 February between 7.00am and 8.00am

The update has been deferred temporarily due to staff sickness and will be rescheduled shortly.

The planned maintenance work has been completed successfully.

We will be performing scheduled maintenance on the Microsoft Exchange email servers on Tuesday 16 February 2021 from 7.30am to 9.00am

This work will not affect the delivery of email.

We’ll update you here as soon as the work is finished.

[Service Alert] Power cut on Colchester campus yesterday evening

There was a power outage at the Colchester campus yesterday which affected a significant number of our IT services. Power was restored at 22:38, however, some computers and other services may still be affected today, such as remoting into your computer on campus.

If you have any issues, please contact the IT Helpdesk, and will help you as soon as we can.
