[Resolved] Problems launching software in the Computing Labs

This issue has now been resolved. If you are still having trouble launching software from shortcuts on the desktop please contact the IT Helpdesk ( or use launch the software using the Essex Software Hub as described in the post below.

Staff and students using the computers in the Computing Labs and open access areas may find that many of the software application shortcuts do not open the software and will produce an error. We are currently looking into this issue and hope to have a fix soon.

In the meantime, if you need to access any of the software on the Lab computers you can do so by launching them directly from the Essex Software Hub – (simply find the icon of the application you wish to run and click the Launch button).

We will post an update as soon as this issue has been resolved.
