University Parents’ Support Network

Filed under: Networking & Collaboration,Welcome — Tags: , , , , , — Julia Greenwood @ 4:32 pm

As it’s the start of the new academic year we are looking to kick start the University Parents’ Support Network for the year ahead.

“When you return to work after a period of leave it can be hard to manage both your own and others’ expectations about how you will juggle your family and career. I would have found it very helpful to talk through some of the difficult decisions and transitions you have to make in confidence and with someone who had already been through it.” Mother of a 19-month-old

Please join us for our opening event in room 4SB.5.3 (Colchester campus), 1pm-2pm on 26th November and be part of our growing network.Join in on one of the following four discussions:toddler-cry

Is your child prone to temper tantrums?

Learn from others how to avoid them and best deal with them.

Thinking of schools?

How to prepare for your child starting school (primary/secondary or moving schools). What will your child need to know/what do you need to know?

Worried that you have no control over what your child is up to outside of the home/in their spare time?

How involved should you be in your child’s social life?

Letting go of an older child as they head off to University/job can be tough.

How to say goodbye when your child leaves home for University/job etc.

If you are member of staff at our Southend or Loughton campuses and are interested please let me know and we can look to run a similar event at other locations.

Come along, share your advice and top tips or just listen to the discussion. Feel free to bring your lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.
