The hall was filled with representatives from Universities all over the world, along with our own Essex students who had returned from abroad to tell us about their experiences.

Stuart Bolus, now a Fourth Year UoE student of International Relations, spent his third year in Prague.

He said: “It was the best time of my life. I loved everything about it, living in a big city, having real independence living abroad, it was great. I also got to study things that aren’t on offer here such as Russian Foreign Policy which was very interesting.”

Alexander Stennings is also a fourth Year UoE student of American Studies. He spent his third year in Albuqerque New Mexico.

He said: “I had such a great time. It was so different, waking up to a landscape of mountains, and although they speak the same language, culturally it was very different, things like celebrating Thanks Giving, the Fourth of July and Halloween. We had Skype and Facebook to keep in touch with everyone at home and being able to travel around and visit places like California, the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas for Spring Break was fantastic.”

Our students can study at one of over 150 partner universities in 35 countries and over £250,000 in University scholarships, bursaries or Erasmus Grants are available for studying abroad.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.
