We’re experiencing a problem that’s stopping everyone accessing University webpages and online services, for example Webmail.

We’re really sorry about this and our teams are working hard to get this fixed as soon as possible. Next update in 15 minutes if not sooner.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.

[Resolved] Intermittent loss of internet

This problem has now been resolved, ITS are continuing to monitor this problem very closely.

Update: 4.55pm

We are currently experiencing network issues at Colchester Campus which is affecting a number of University services including the University’s main website.

Further updates to follow.

This problem has now been resolved. Many apologies for the disruption to service.

The problem ran from 1.20pm to 2.03pm

We are aware of network and internet problems on the Colchester campus, the root cause is under urgent investigation.

You may have experienced a temporary loss of internet access if you are working at the Colchester campus from 13:20 on 04/11/2019.

Issues affecting multiple services

We experienced an incident with our database servers between 14:49 and 15:51 which affected multiple services including FASER, MyEssex and online registration for car parking. Users would’ve seen an error or a blank screen when trying to access any of the affected systems.

This issue has since been resolved and the services are now available again. Anyone still experiencing issues are encouraged to contact the it helpdesk

[Monitoring][Resolved] Some services will be unavailable Saturday 21st September

Further work was carried out this morning and all services are back online.  Apologies for any inconvenience.


 

Update: 23/09/19

The work carried out Saturday was successful and services are back up and running. We continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates if necessary.


 

Update: 21/09/19

Further work was carried out this morning from 07:00 to 07:30 and systems are now stable.


 

We will be undertaking some remedial action to address the underlying cause of the recent problems we have been experiencing with the availability of some services. This work will be carried out tomorrow, Saturday 21st September, between the hours of 7am and 8.30am. We anticipate there will be some loss of services during this time. We apologise for any inconvenience which may be caused whilst this essential work is being undertaken. Further updates will be provided should the work take longer than anticipated.

Library e-resources

Other web-based services may also be affected.

Further work was carried out this morning from 07:00 to 07:30 and systems are now stable.

Update 09:32 – The website and other services affected by this issue are now back up and running. We are still working on addressing the cause and it may be necessary for more work to be carried out which may further disrupt service availability.
