[Service Alert] We’re experiencing a service outage with student accommodation wifi Colchester

This issue is now resolved.  Many apologies for the disruption to service.

Our service provider have engineers deployed locally to investigate the issue.  There appears to be a significant problem with BT in the Colchester area.

Apologies for the continued disruption.

We’re aware that some students are having trouble with the accommodation wifi on our Colchester campus.  We’re urgently investigating the cause with the service provider and will update you here as soon as possible.

Sorry for any disruption this may be causing you.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.

[Service Alert] Accommodation Wifi Colchester

Everything is back to normal and we will continue monitoring.  Our service providers (Glide) have worked with their partners to resolve a large scale network outage that unfortunately affected student Wifi from 1.01pm Thursday 7 May to 3.37am Friday 8 May. We’re sorry for the disruption.

StudentCom ‘drop-in’ workshops at Colchester Campus

Students, do you need help with the internet in your accommodation?

Representatives from StudentCom (the student accommodation network provider) will be running two drop-in workshops this week at Colchester Campus. The aim of the workshops is to help you with any problems you may have with internet connection in your student accommodation – wired or wireless.

You don’t need to book a place, simply turn up. The sessions will run on:

  • Wednesday 14 May from 5.00pm to 6.30pm at the North Campus Accommodation office located opposite Tawney Tower.
  • Thursday 15 May from 5.00pm to 6.30pm at the South Campus Accommodation office located in Harwich Court.
