[Service Alert] Power cut on Colchester campus yesterday evening

There was a power outage at the Colchester campus yesterday which affected a significant number of our IT services. Power was restored at 22:38, however, some computers and other services may still be affected today, such as remoting into your computer on campus.

If you have any issues, please contact the IT Helpdesk, and will help you as soon as we can.

[Resolved] We’re experiencing a service outage with the Software Hub

Resolved 6.05pm:

This issue has now been resolved. If you’re still having trouble please let the IT Helpdesk know.

 

Investigating 5.35pm:

We are currently experiencing some issues with the Software Hub (https://software.essex.ac.uk) with the service not loading correctly, meaning it is currently unavailable or unresponsive for most users.

We are investigating the problem and will restore the service as soon as possible.

[Service alert] [Resolved] Planned improvements to the delivery of many online services

Planned work

We’re doing some work on the delivery of many services to make them more reliable.

The work is happening on:

  • Thursday 21 May between 7.00am and 8.00am

Many online services will be at-risk of disruption during this time, including:

The work has now been completed.  There should be no disruption, but if you do experience any problems accessing the above services from a web browser please first try restarting your browser. If problems persist, please contact the IT Helpdesk.

[Scheduled] Software Hub at risk

This work was successfully completed last week and the extra functionality is now installed.

Sorry for any inconvenience it may have caused.

Update (18/03/2020)

Unfortunately the planned work did not take place last night due to the supplier having unexpected scheduling issues.

The work has been rescheduled and the Hub should now be considered at risk on

  • Wednesday 18 March between 9.30pm and 11.30pm

Further updates will follow.

Planned work

We are installing some extra functionality to our Software Hub on

  • Tuesday 17 March between 7.00pm and 9.00pm

During this time the Hub should be considered at risk, but we do not believe there will be any major disruption.

We’ll update the status once work is complete.
