[Resolved] Problem with printing across all campuses

Printing services are back to normal. If you’re still having trouble please let the IT Helpdesk know.

Good news – the fix has been applied and you should now be able to print again. We are continuing to monitor the situation. Sorry for any disruption this may have caused and thanks again for your patience.

Update, 3.35pm

All printing will be temporarily unavailable from 3.40pm for around 10 minutes so we can apply a fix. Updates to follow.

Update, 2.23pm

Unfortunately due to more technical issues the number of working printers is now around 50%. Our teams are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Update, 12.18pm

90% of printers are now working. If your nearest printer still isn’t working please email it.helpdesk@essex.ac.uk with the printer number on the front that starts ‘MCPS’ so we can investigate further.

In the meanttime please find your next nearest available printer.

Sorry again for the disruption to printing.

Staff printing currently unavailable

Update 17:05

The printing service should now be functioning normally. If you had submitted a job to the print queue whilst the service was having problems (between 1pm and 5pm) then you may need to resubmit the job. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

There is currently an issue with printing to the centrally managed printers, affecting only staff on our Colchester campus. As a result, any print jobs submitted after 1pm today will not be processed and will need to be submitted again, once the issue has been resolved.

We are looking into the cause of the issue and will post an update when available.

Printing issues in the Library

We are aware that some of our users are experiencing intermittent printing issues on the Multi Function Devices within the library.

The cause of these issues is currently being investigated.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing and suggest that, until this issue is resolved, our users use the printers in other areas for any time critical printing.

[Service Alert] Network related problems affecting services at East15 campus

We are currently investigating network related issues in our East15 campus which is affecting access to network file shares, printing and some other services.

We will provide an update as soon as more more information is available.

 


 

A system failure occurred which caused some services to become temporarily unavailable. This has now been resolved.

Web print access

We are currently aware of and investigating an issue affecting access to papercut.essex.ac.uk and web print from devices connected via Eduroam. We will provide more information once the cause has been identified and fixed.
