[Service Alert] Scheduled downtime of database services

IT Services will be performing an essential upgrade to one of our student database servers (SERNT72) between 10am and 4pm on Saturday 21 July 2018.

During this time, many student and applicant facing services will be unavailable. This includes but is not limited to:

  • ESIS and attendant student and applicant information systems
  • AppPortal and Web Clearing
  • MyEssex
  • ESF, EAF and ECF on SharePoint
  • The Accommodation booking systems
  • The PocketEssex App
  • FASER, and Listen Again

This upgrade is necessary to prepare our systems for clearing and the next academic year.

Work has been undertaken to mitigate the impact of this upgrade, but if you have any concerns please contact Richard Martin.

[RESOLVED] Problem with HR Organiser (iTrent)

Update 10.30am

HR Organiser is back up and running. Thanks for your patience while we dealt with the problem.

Unfortunately, we have had to restore iTrent (including HR Organiser and Web Recruitment) back to 8.45am this morning.

This means that any processing carried out between 08:45 and 09:30 will now have been lost. 

This includes processes such as annual leave bookings, sickness recorded, and applications.

The Business Systems Team (Finance section) are now reviewing any processes submitted during this period and will advise of appropriate action to be taken where necessary.

[RESOLVED]Emergency server maintenance

The issue with sernt72 has now been resolved and the server is back online.


 

One of our core servers will be undergoing emergency maintenance from 6am tomorrow, Tuesday 17th April.

This could have an impact on lots of our services and applications, including the systems, listed below, which may be inaccessible whilst we carry out these works.

Please do not contact the IT Services helpdesk during this time, as we will be focusing on the emergency server maintenance.

If services are not fully operational by 9am, we will let you know with a further update on the IT Services  Blog.

Please note that email and internet access should be unaffected.

[Service Alert][Resolved] DHCP/DNS server restart – 8th December 2017 08:00hrs

08:25hrs 8th December 2017 – The server has now been rebooted and is back in service.


One of our DNS servers needs to be restarted to clear an issue we have been experiencing with DHCP/DNS requests.  This work is scheduled to take place at 08:00hrs, Friday 8th December 2017.

Whilst the server is being restarted, users may experience longer than usual response times whilst connecting to network services and the internet.

It is anticipated the work will be complete by 08:15hrs.  Further announcements will be made after the work is complete.

[Service Alert][Resolved] Problem with HR Organiser and Vacancies websites

The issue has now been resolved and both websites are once again accessible.


We are currently experiencing issues with access to the following websites:
