[Service Alert] Unit 4 (Agresso) unavailable from 5.15pm today.

As part of important year end processes, Unit 4 (desktop and web) will be unavailable from 5.15pm today, Tuesday 6 August until 10am tomorrow, Wednesday 7 August.

This includes the following services;

  • Requisitions/ goods receipting
  • Customer invoicing
  • Request to recruit
  • Claiming expenses
  • Research costing and pricing

During this time all users will be unable to log in to Unit 4.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

[Service Alert][Resolved] iTrent/ People Manager/ HR Organiser Maintenance – Monday 11 March 2019

Business Systems Team will be performing an essential system upgrade on Monday 11 March 2019. During this time the following services will be unavailable:

  • iTrent
  • HR Organiser
  • People Manager
  • Web Recruitment
  • External Examiner Nomination Portal

It is anticipated that the system will be unavailable for most of the working day, notification will be made to users once this is complete.

[Service Alert] Resolved: Problems with HR Organiser and People Manager

[Service Alert] Essential maintenance work to IT systems this weekend

UPDATE: 15:05PM Saturday 5 January

The scheduled maintenance work is now complete.
Thank you to our users for their patience.


IT Services will be performing an essential system upgrade between 9am and 5pm on Saturday 5 January 2019.

During this time, many services will be unavailable. This includes but is not limited to:

  • ESIS and attendant student and applicant information systems
  • AppPortal and Web Clearing
  • MyEssex
  • Timetables
  • ESF, EAF and ECF on SharePoint
  • The Accommodation booking systems
  • The PocketEssex App
  • FASER and Listen Again

This upgrade is necessary to prepare our systems for the next academic year.

Work has been undertaken to mitigate the impact of this upgrade, but if you have any concerns please contact Richard Martin.

[Service Alert][Resolved] Issue with central server – Friday 14th September to Monday 17th September

There was an issue with a central administrative server (serlx28) from 17:30 on Friday 14th September to 07:30 on Monday 17th September.

The server became unresponsive and may have affected the following services:

  • Password change web form
  • Applicant portal (including get-account and pre-arrival functionality)
  • Webmail off Campus
  • Library website from off Campus
  • Any other site which uses feds.essex.ac.uk to authenticate signing in from off Campus

The server was restarted at 07:30 this morning with all services coming back online.  The cause of the issue is being investigated.
