Commercial Applications will be performing an essential system upgrade on Monday 6 September 2021. During this time the following services will be unavailable;

  • iTrent
  • HR Organiser
  • People Manager
  • Web Recruitment
  • External Examiner Nomination Portal

It is anticipated that the system will be unavailable from 9.30am until 4.30pm, notification will be made to users once it is available for use again.

We apologise that you will be unable to access these services on this date, if you have any queries please email caquery@essex.ac.uk.

[Service Alert] [Resolved] Issues with Sky Broadband users accessing VPN

We’ve had confirmation that Sky has resolved the connection issues.

We are aware of an issue with Sky broadband preventing Sky users from accessing University websites (e.g. https://www.essex.ac.uk/), including connecting via VPN.

Unfortunately, this incident is out of our control, however, we will update you once Sky has provided more information.

[Service Alert] [Resolved] Issues with Panopto and Listen Again

Resolved, 10:04am:

Panopto sign-in services are now available and we believe this issue is now resolved.

Staff and students will be able to sign into Panopto and watch recordings on Listen Again/Moodle.

We will continue to monitor the site. If you experience any further issues, please contact the IT Helpdesk.

Investigating, 09:30am

We are aware of an issue with signing into Panopto (panopto.essex.ac.uk) to watch recordings.

During this time, staff and students will be unable to log into these services to watch recordings on Listen Again (listenagain.essex.ac.uk), and Panopto pre-recordings on Moodle (moodle.essex.ac.uk).

We are investigating the cause and will restore the service as soon as possible.

[Service Alert] SharePoint maintenance this afternoon on small number of SharePoint sites (21 July 2021)

All work has been successfully completed. We would, again, like to thank affected users for their patience whilst this work was carried out.

Between 13:00pm and 15:00pm today, (Wednesday 21 July), the SharePoint Team alongside a third party consultant will be undertaking some essential maintenance to move a small number of sp.essex.ac.uk SharePoint sites over to a new database location. The purpose of this exercise is to ensure the long-term resilience the sp.essex.ac.uk service.

Sites impacted (including all subsites below):

  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/sections/finance
  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/sections/cer
  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/projects
  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/sections/intaudit
  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/committees
  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/resources/la
  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/centres/hrc
  • https://sp.essex.ac.uk/depts/sociology

The impact is a potential few minutes of downtime per site (less than 5 mins) between 13:00pm and 15:00pm. However for the duration of the maintenance, the each site will be made temporarily read-only, so site editors should be aware that changes (page edits, file uploads, file edits, etc) will not be possible in this timeframe.

We apologise for the short notice and thank you for your support during this important, and necessary, piece of work.

We will be performing scheduled maintenance on the University data network on 20 July 2021 from 7.30am to 8.00am.

During this time, services that rely on the network may be unavailable for a brief moment. This includes but is not limited to:
University website

Moodle

Faser

LEAP

SharePoint
