Problems making outbound telephone calls from Colchester Campus

We have received reports of a number of analogue extensions in Colchester being unable to make external calls.

Our system maintainer is looking into the problem.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.

[Service Alert] [Resolved] We’re performing scheduled maintenance on iTrent, People Manager and HR Organiser

Commercial Applications will be performing an essential system upgrade on Monday 6 September 2021. During this time the following services will be unavailable;

  • iTrent
  • HR Organiser
  • People Manager
  • Web Recruitment
  • External Examiner Nomination Portal

It is anticipated that the system will be unavailable from 9.30am until 4.30pm, notification will be made to users once it is available for use again.

We apologise that you will be unable to access these services on this date, if you have any queries please email caquery@essex.ac.uk.

[Service Alert] [Resolved] Issues with Sky Broadband users accessing VPN

We’ve had confirmation that Sky has resolved the connection issues.

If you are still experiencing any problems, please contact the IT Helpdesk.

We are aware of an issue with Sky broadband preventing Sky users from accessing University websites (e.g. https://www.essex.ac.uk/), including connecting via VPN.

Unfortunately, this incident is out of our control, however, we will update you once Sky has provided more information.

[Service Alert] Unit4 Finance System Maintenance – 5.8.21

Unit4 Finance System, will be unavailable from Thursday 5 August at 17:45 until Friday 6 August at 10:00. This is due maintenance that is required during the financial year end of the University.

Unit4 is used by staff who have a finance or procurement related role, or claim expenses or a research PI or involved/potentially involved in applying for research funding.

Please ensure you are logged off by 17:45 on Thursday 5th August 2021

[Service Alert] [Resolved] Issues with Panopto and Listen Again

Resolved, 10:04am:

Panopto sign-in services are now available and we believe this issue is now resolved.

Staff and students will be able to sign into Panopto and watch recordings on Listen Again/Moodle.

We will continue to monitor the site. If you experience any further issues, please contact the IT Helpdesk.

Investigating, 09:30am

We are aware of an issue with signing into Panopto (panopto.essex.ac.uk) to watch recordings.

During this time, staff and students will be unable to log into these services to watch recordings on Listen Again (listenagain.essex.ac.uk), and Panopto pre-recordings on Moodle (moodle.essex.ac.uk).

We are investigating the cause and will restore the service as soon as possible.
