[Service Alert] We’re making changes to the way you sign into Office 365

Today’s work has been completed successfully now.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused you at the time.

Investigating, 1.18pm

We’re experiencing an issue relating to today’s planned work.

Currently, signing into Office 365 using the address email.essex.ac.uk will not work.

A workaround is to use https://outlook.office365.com/essex.ac.uk

We’ll post another update as soon as we learn more.

Planned work

As part of our ongoing improvements to Office 365, we’ve got some planned changes to the way you sign in.

The work is happening today, Monday 8 June 2020. We do not expect any disruption to the service.

At the moment when you visit email.essex.ac.uk you’ll see our familiar friend, Ralph, and then you sign in with your Essex email address and password.

After the change, when you visit email.essex.ac.uk you’ll see the page below where you enter your Essex email address:

You’ll then be taken to a second page, with Ralph, to enter your Essex password.

We’ll update you here as soon as the work is complete.

Work has now been completed but we’ve identified a problem with logging onto email.essex.ac.uk – please use https://outlook.office365.com/essex.ac.uk until further notice.
