We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing many online services, including Webmail, Moodle and Box. We are sorry for any disruption this may be causing. We are urgently investigating and will update you as soon as possible.

IT Training is now being delivered remotely

Preparing for a virtual classroom session

Please make sure you install Zoom prior to the training session. Visit the Zoom web page for instructions. It is a good idea to be somewhere quiet, where you won’t be disturbed and will have no interruptions.

For Zoom webinars a microphone and video camera is not essential but will improve your learning experience if you have them. All participants can also ask questions via chat or Q&A.

For Zoom meetings (for Adobe training) and GoToMeetings (for NVivo training), you will need to have a desktop or laptop with the Adobe or NVivo software installed to get the full benefit of the session. Instructions for accessing the software and for joining the session will be provided to participants.

Scheduled maintenance for Moodle

Moodle will be unavailable from 8am on April 7th while we make some important changes to keep ahead of rising demand. We expect that Moodle will be offline for up to an hour.

This maintenance period will affect the following services:

  • Moodle (https://moodle.essex.ac.uk)
  • MoodleX (https://moodlex.essex.ac.uk)

The Moodle archives will still be available as usual

Problem with IT Helpdesk Phone Number x2345

All staff and students should be now be able to call 2345, we are continuing to monitor the situation. We’re sorry for the disruption.

 

We’re aware that some people are currently having problems contacting the ITS Helpdesk by phone on extension 2345. We’re looking into it urgently and will update this blog as soon as we are able.
