[Service Alert] iTrent/ People Manager/ HR Organiser Maintenance – Thursday 26 March 2020

Commercial Applications will be carrying out essential system maintenance at 8am on Thursday 26th March 2020. During this time the following services will be unavailable:

  • iTrent
  • HR Organiser
  • People Manager
  • Web Recruitment
  • External Examiner Nomination Portal

It is anticipated that the system will be unavailable for around 20 minutes, notification will be made to users once it is available for use again.

We apologise that you will be unable to access these services during this time, if you have any queries please email bsthelp@essex.ac.uk.

[Service Alert – Resolved] Major issue affecting our IT network this morning

Due to a major issue affecting our network early this morning, many of our services were unavailable from around 3am to 10am. This issue affected services that require you to sign into, for example Moodle, FASER, Webmail, Zoom, VPN and some corporate systems.

Our Networks Team were on site early this morning to investigate and have now resolved the issue – all services are fully restored, and we will continue to monitor these.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused you in accessing our services this morning.

If you’re still experiencing any issues, please let the IT Helpdesk know.

We will continue to provide further updates on our service status page.

Thank you for your patience whilst we resolved these issues this morning.

Issues Affecting VPN – Resolved

This issue was resolved by our Internet Service Provider 19/3/20 17:17. VPN Services are now running normally.

We are currently experiencing intermittent issues affecting everyone working from home using VPN.

A problem has been identified by our Internet Service Provider (JANET) and they are working urgently to fix it. This is affecting multiple institutions and does not appear to be directly related to University of Essex services.

We’re really sorry for the disruption and will update as soon as we have further information.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.

[Service Alert] Issues affecting VPN

We are currently experiencing intermittent issues affecting everyone working from home using VPN.

Preparing for a webinar

Please make sure you install Zoom prior to the training session. Visit the Zoom web page for instructions. It is a good idea to be somewhere quiet, where you won’t be disturbed and will have no interruptions.

A microphone and video camera is not essential but can improve your learning experience if you have them. If you don’t have a microphone or video, you can still join the session and will be able to see and hear me, and you can type questions via chat or Q&A.
