[Service Alert] [Scheduled] iTrent/ People Manager/ HR Organiser Maintenance – Monday 9 March 2020

Commercial Applications will be performing an essential system upgrade on Monday 9th March 2020. During this time the following services will be unavailable:

  • iTrent
  • HR Organiser
  • People Manager
  • Web Recruitment
  • External Examiner Nomination Portal

It is anticipated that the system will be unavailable from 09.30am until 6.30pm, notification will be made to users once it is available for use again.

We apologise that you will be unable to access these services on this date, if you have any queries please email bsthelp@essex.ac.uk.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.

[Alert] Issue showing applications on the Software Hub

Resolved, late Friday evening

Everything is now back to normal and we will continue monitoring. If you’re still having trouble please let the IT Helpdesk know.

Update, 12.15pm

The likely cause of this issue has been identified and we have a plan to fix it.

The repair will take place at 7pm this evening and will unfortunately mean that the Software Hub will be unavailable for about an hour at this time.

Further updates will follow.

 

Investigating, 9.05am

When opening the Software Hub, some users may get a message saying no applications available and that the user information in the top right says Unknown.

We are aware of the issue and are in contact with the suppliers who are investigating it.

In the meantime logging out of the Hub, by hovering over the user name (Unknown), will give a logon screen which will allow normal access.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may be causing.

[Resolved] Problem with printing across all campuses

Printing services are back to normal. If you’re still having trouble please let the IT Helpdesk know.

Monitoring, 4.03pm

Good news – the fix has been applied and you should now be able to print again. We are continuing to monitor the situation. Sorry for any disruption this may have caused and thanks again for your patience.

Update, 3.35pm

All printing will be temporarily unavailable from 3.40pm for around 10 minutes so we can apply a fix. Updates to follow.

Update, 2.23pm

Unfortunately due to more technical issues the number of working printers is now around 50%. Our teams are working to get this fixed as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience.

Update, 12.18pm

90% of printers are now working. If your nearest printer still isn’t working please email it.helpdesk@essex.ac.uk with the printer number on the front that starts ‘MCPS’ so we can investigate further.

In the meanttime please find your next nearest available printer.

Sorry again for the disruption to printing.

We currently have a problem with printing not working across all campuses.

[Service Alert] [Resolved] Issues with Moodle

Moodle has now returned to service and all staff and students should be able to log in again.

Update, 15:16:

Moodle is currently not accepting logins.

We are urgently investigating the cause. We are sorry for the trouble caused and we will update you within the next 30 minutes.

Update, 14:47:

Moodle and other Moodle-related sites were returned to service at 14:15.

Moodle was unavailable between approximately 14:30 and 14:45. Sorry for the disruption caused during this period.

We are still investigating the cause, but believe it to be a problem with one of Moodle’s database servers.

Investigating, 14:39:

We are aware that some people are having problems logging in to the following Moodle sites:

  • moodle.essex.ac.uk
  • moodlex.essex.ac.uk
  • moodlearchive.essex.ac.uk

We’re looking into it urgently and we will update you in 30 minutes with the latest information.

[Service Alert][Resolved] M: drive servers – Tuesday 11th February 2020

UPDATE : 07:19  The work was successful and the M: Drive servers are back online.


 

We’re working on some improvements to the M: Drive file storage service tomorrow morning between 6.00am and 8.30am.

During this time some of you won’t be able to access your M: Drive. Everything will be back up and working by 8.30am if not before.

We’ll update this alert to let you know how we get on. Thanks as always for your patience.
