[Service Alert] Possible disruption to SharePoint Services for planned maintenance: Thursday 12th December 2019

The scheduled maintenance is now completed. We thank users for their patience whilst the work was undertaken.
File indexing has been reinstated, but some files may not be displayed until the search has completed a full crawl (overnight tonight).

ORIGINAL POST

There is a possibility that users may experience a couple of brief disruptions to SharePoint Services this Thursday (12th December 2019) – late morning/lunchtime/early afternoon.

This is to accommodate some essential maintenance work to prepare the core services of ECF, ESF, AOS, and PG/UG EAF to be compatible with the incoming 2020 calendar year.

During the maintenance work, we do not anticipate any prolonged period of service outage – only a few minutes on any occasion. However, files uploaded during the maintenance window will take longer than usual to be sent to their filing-year storage locations, and to be search-indexed.

We apologise for any inconvenience this will cause. However, it is anticipated that the impact on users, with this period being in the lead-up to the Christmas vacation, will be minimal.

Notification will be made to users when the period of maintenance is complete.

Staff printing currently unavailable

Update 17:05

The printing service should now be functioning normally. If you had submitted a job to the print queue whilst the service was having problems (between 1pm and 5pm) then you may need to resubmit the job. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

There is currently an issue with printing to the centrally managed printers, affecting only staff on our Colchester campus. As a result, any print jobs submitted after 1pm today will not be processed and will need to be submitted again, once the issue has been resolved.

We are looking into the cause of the issue and will post an update when available.

[Resolved] Issues affecting LDAP sites

There was an issue with signing onto LDAP which affected sites like Moodle. This started from 10PM – 2nd December 2019 until 7:30am – 3rd December 2019.

The issue is fixed now, however we are still investigating the cause of the downtime.
