Processing delays on Listen Again recordings

Listen Again is currently experiencing processing delays due to a storage issue. This is likely to effect recordings made between Monday 20 February and Friday 24 February.

It is anticipated that recordings will be made available from Saturday 25 February.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.

Problems affecting email access.

Many of the problems affecting email access, particularly from Outlook both on and off campus are now resolved. The issue is still under investigation as there may be some scenarios where the problem still exists. If you are unable to access email using your preferred email reading program, please continue to use Outlook Web Access as described below. We hope to resolve any remaining issues over the next few working days.


 

There are still problems affecting access to email both on and off campus. Staff are working on resolving the issue. However, Outlook Web Access is unaffected so if you are experiencing difficulties, you can login and read your email at https://email.essex.ac.uk.

Further updates will be posted when we have more information.

Service failure

The remaining issues (Telephony and Conference Wi-fi) have been resolved and a full service restored.

We have staff working on and off campus. Some equipment that failed as a result of the power difficulties overnight is being switched out and once this has been completed, we’ll review the still outstanding issues and provide an update.

ListenAgain was returned to service at 11:45

All services are assessed as operating normally with the exception of:

  • Telephony: Incoming calls to the University can’t be answered (all campuses). Outgoing calls unaffected. For incoming calls, the call ID may be visible and you should be able to ring back.
  • Conference Wi-Fi service (EventEssex) is unavailable.
  • ListenAgain is unavailable.
  • There is a secondary issue unrelated to datacentre power affecting access to email using Outlook and on some mobile clients. However, it should be possible to access email using Webmail at https://email.essex.ac.uk.

The problems affecting the home directories are mostly fixed. They should all be fully returned to service by 05:00


 

One of the University Datacentres lost power earlier today (18 Feb 2017), we believe as a result of a faulty environmental censor.

This resulted in the loss of many central IT facilities. Staff were onsite by 00:30 and most services were restored by 02:00. Some are still not available and will be worked on in due course.

Known issues at present are:

Moodle unavailable

Some home directories unavailable.

More information will be posted in due course.

[Resolved] Problem with Outlook Web Access/Webmail

Users were experiencing problems accessing https://email.essex.ac.uk earlier today due to a certificate issue.

This has now been resolved, please report any additional problems to it.helpdesk@essex.ac.uk

[Service Alert] Problem with Outlook Web Access/Webmail

We are currently experiencing log on issues to https://email.essex.ac.uk for some browsers including Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox

If you need to access OWA/Webmail please visit https://portal.office.com and log in using your University credentials or use Google Chrome or Apple Safari.

We are currently investigating the issue and are looking into a solution.
