[Service Alert] Problems dialing external numbers following provider change on 01/02/2016

Filed under: Telephone, [Resolved], [Service Alert] — Andy Tyne @ 11:48 am

Information Update: 14:42

The problem has now been resolved. Local calls should work without the need for a STD code.

Information Update, 13:40:

It appears that this problem only affects analogue or Ergoline telephone users who have to use a full STD code to dial a local exchange number.

SIP telephone users are unaffected by this problem.

The system maintainer has been informed and will be investigating.

Original Alert,11:48:

Following the migration of our telephone services to a new provider on Monday 1 February 2016, we have been informed by some callers that they are having difficulty making calls to external numbers.

We suspect this is a capacity issue and need to analyse system log data against known incidents.

We need details of the:

  • exact time the call was placed
  • extension number dialled from
  • exact number dialled, in particular whether the STD code was used.

Please provide these details to telephones@essex.ac.uk if you experience this problem.

Please provide the same information for any subsequent attempt that is is successful.
