[Service Alert] Scheduled disruption to wi-fi in The Forum (Southend Campus)

Filed under: Wi-Fi, [Resolved], [Service Alert] — Dan Jolly @ 9:02 am

We have received advanced notice that Southend Borough Council will be performing a survey of the wireless network in The Forum to help improve coverage and overall performance.

There will be two dates of testing, both beginning at 6pm. These tests should be completed within a few hours and regular wi-fi service will be available later that evening.

  • Wednesday 29 July. Start time – 6pm – Performance testing
Wireless will remain working, however there may be some overall loss on performance while the testing is undertaken.
  • Thursday 30 July. Start time – 6pm – Wireless Re-Survey
All wireless networks at the forum will be disabled.

Please note that the eduroam service at both the Gateway Building and Clifftown Studios, and wi-fi at University Square will not be affected by this testing and should be used as an alternative during these hours.

Computers and pods in The Forum’s Learning Hub will also be unaffected. This will only affect mobile/tablet/laptop users.

Should you experience any issues with wi-fi connectivity outside of these dates/hours, please contact the Info Point (isssouth@essex.ac.uk, or 01702 328341)

Apologies for any inconvenience.
