Hayung scooped the top prize of a set of cat eye cycle lights after being declared the most brightly dressed for the ride.

Other riders taking part in the twilight ride, which was part of the “Be Seen” safer cycling campaign, also received free high visibility goodies including neon bracelets.

Pictured is Hayung Kim along with fellow cyclist and Economics student Andrew Cheung.

The Be Seen campaign aimed to promote cycling safety and highlight the importance of being seen when using the roads and paths at night.

Essex County Council has launched a public consultation on five potential options for the new route. The University has provided £250,000 towards the cost of the cycle path, and we want to ensure students have their say about the route they would use.

Highways representatives from the County Council will present the options and answer your questions on campus on:

Wednesday 4 December.

Come to a presentation in LTB6 from 1.15pm to 1.45pm.

Slides of the different routes will be displayed, and our staff and students are encouraged to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each. There will be ample time for questions.

The routes will also be displayed in the LTB Foyer from 10am to 4.30pm on 4 December, with County Council staff available to talk to you. The displays will remain in the LTB foyer, unmanned, on Thursday 5 and Friday 6 December. They will then move to Wivenhoe Library for a week from Monday 9 December. The consultation runs until 6 January 2014.

Please give your feedback using the online questionnaire before you leave for the Christmas break. Hard copies of the form, which can be posted back, will be available on Wednesday from the County Council representatives for those without easy access to a computer. The University will continue to push for swift delivery of the path once the preferred route has been agreed.

The Wivenhoe Cycle Route consultation is live online and can be found at www.essex.gov.uk/WivenhoeCycleRoute.

If you have any questions or queries relating to the scheme or consultation exercise, you can also contact the County Council’s Strategy and Engagement team by telephoning Contact Essex on 0845 603 7631 or by email to Cycling.Strategy@essex.gov.uk.
