Software skills have landed Masters students Victoria Valdes Benavides a paid work placement right on her doorstep.

Victoria, from Chile, is studying for a Masters in International Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the Essex Business School at the University of Essex Southend campus.

She met up with Aideen Sadler, the Faculty Employability Advisor to see what options were available and landed an interview with MHD, an online hairdressing training website, with offices in the Business Incubation Hub in The Gateway Building.

“I had worked with the software programme they were using which was one of the requirements for the role.

“I started in the middle of July and will work part-time there until I finish my course in September.

“My background is in advertising and I have experience in digital marketing. I am helping with translation work as well as analysing the website and looking at ways to improve it.”

Victoria will use the extra money to do some more travelling while she is based in the UK. “I have been to Spain to visit some friends and my family came over in February and we travelled to Paris. It is cheap and not complicated to do.”
