What a better way to end the academic year than with the Essex Startups annual summer Bootcamp?

The Essex Startups team called for all entrepreneurs far and wide from across Essex to come and embark on a two day business creation intensive Bootcamp. Together 28 students, 14 mentors and 3 Essex Startups team members got together for an eventful workshop filled with unique ideas, expert guidance and plenty of food to fuel inspiration!

Day one: Introduction to the Business Model Canvas

The first day Campers registered, put on their Bootcamp T-shirt and got to work on their Business Model Canvas. Our lovely mentors were there to answer all questions so that they could establish their ideas and create something that works. The workshop was delivered from our very own Enterprise Project Officer, Christine Michaelis. The Campers consolidated their ideas and worked with each other to build and perfect their vision. It was truly inspiring to see such great unity and exchange of ideas from our Essex students and alumni.

Day two was the race to the finish line and arguably the most intense of the two days. Campers were briefed by Christine on the resources they could use to begin branding their business before hacking away on laptops and tablets to make their dreams reality.

Students had five hours to design the logos of their companies as well as letter head and business cards before presenting them to the rest of the camp to get their honest opinions and constructive comments in a friendly and supportive environment. Congratulations to all Campers who took to the challenge and delivered some stunning and really incredible results, and for providing some really professional and helpful feedback.

One of the previous Big Pitch winners, Luke Farrelly, was there to capture every candid moment of the Bootcamp on camera and took exclusive interviews with participants. Campers also took some behind the scenes footage with their Bootcamp selfie sticks.

We look forward to seeing those who participated on both days of Bootcamp at the annual Big Pitch event in the autumn term. Only the bravest will rise to the challenge to pitch their ideas in attempt to receive £3,000 in funding towards their business.
