Make sure you have the right calculator

Filed under: News — ckeitch @ 3.32 pm

If you are allowed to use a calculator in your exam, the only models you are allowed to use are the Casio FX-83GT PLUS or the Casio FX-85GT PLUS.

The only exception is for certain Finance exams that require a financial calculator, in which case you may use the Hewlett Packard 12c (all variants) or the Texas Instruments BAII Plus (including the BAII Plus Professional).

You can buy a permitted Casio calculator model on campus from The Burrow, everythingEssex or Waterstones.

A limited number of calculators will be available to borrow on the day of your exam from the Exams Office.  These will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis, on production of your registration card.

The University of Essex will moderate comments and there will be a delay before any posts appear.

Filed under: News — ckeitch @ 4.03 pm

Researchers at the University of Essex are looking for first-year undergraduates to help them find out more about what it’s like to be a student.

If you are a first-year undergraduate at our Colchester Campus you can take part in the study which will help you make the most of your time at Essex. Foundation students, second and third-year students and post-graduate students are not eligible.

The study will allow our researchers to understand more about the choices students make and the issues they face.

By taking part in this exciting project you can receive over £100 by completing up to 3 surveys during each year of your degree. You will also;

  • Learn tips on how to study better
  • Discover ways to find a job after you graduate
  • Contribute to Essex’s reputation as a centre of research excellence
  • Help future generations of students succeed at university

You will get paid whenever you complete a survey. You also get a £10 bonus for completing all surveys.

How do I sign up?

If you would like to sign up, just come along to the B.O.O.S.T 2018 stand with your enrolment form, or register online.
