The 2014 Foundation Degree in Health Sciences graduates

The School of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) has celebrated the graduation of the 100th student to complete its Foundation Degree in Health Sciences.

The Foundation Degree was launched in partnership with North Essex Partnership (NEP) University NHS Foundation Trust in 2005. It offers unregistered clinical staff the chance to gain recognised qualifications in mental health.

Dr Peter Martin, Senior Lecturer in HHS, said: “The graduation of NEP’s 100th Foundation Degree student shows that the partnership between the University and the Trust continues to be a source of innovation and creativity.

“People using NEP services can expect those who have completed the Foundation Degree to utilise enhanced knowledge in delivering compassionate care in line with NHS values.

“The commitment of the Trust towards developing its staff through the Foundation Degree is an excellent example of our partnership in action.”

The Foundation Degree is funded by Health Education England and usually recruits a maximum of 20 students per year.

Share success stories for Graduation

Filed under: Latest news, Student experience — Tags: , , — Communications Office @ 8:32 am

In the lead up to Graduation 2013 and during the week of ceremonies from Tuesday 16 July to Friday 19 July we are looking to celebrate the successes of our students on our website, our publications, on social media and in the media.

The University’s Communications Office is now looking to speak to students who are graduating this year who might have interesting stories to tell about their special day and their experiences at Essex.

This might include students who have overcome adversity, made the most out of the opportunities offered at Essex, made a difference to the University or the surrounding community or achieved notable successes such as national awards while studying here. Alternatively we would love to hear about students who have secured interesting jobs after graduation, won scholarships for further study or are going on to pursue interesting projects.

The Communications Office would love to hear from individual students and also departments or members of staff who would like to highlight the achievements of their students.

Please contact the Communications Office by e-mail at: comms@essex.ac.uk or call: ext. 4377.
