CUBO awards at Wivenhoe House

Around 200 senior managers from higher education institutions across the country will be at the Colchester Campus this week for the Association of College and University Business Officers’ (CUBO) summer conference and awards ceremony.

Based at Wivenhoe House, this year’s CUBO Awards will be presented on the evening of Wednesday 3 July, as part of the CUBO summer conference, with award winners announced by Essex snooker legend, Steve Davis.

The three day conference, beginning this Wednesday and finishing on Friday 5 July, includes speakers such as Germaine Greer and University of Essex’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Jules Pretty.

Director of University of Essex Campus Services Peter Church has been shortlisted for the CUBO Business Manager of the Year award and the Edge Hotel School has also been shortlisted in the Innovation Award for Excellence in Student Experience category.

Essex shortlists in CUBO awards

The University has been shortlisted in two categories of the forthcoming ULiving CUBO (College and University Business Officers) Awards.

Director of University of Essex Campus Services Ltd, Peter Church, is one of just four shortlisted for Business Manager of the Year award. The Edge Hotel School, a partnership between the University, the Edge Foundation and the University’s academic partner, Kaplan, is also shortlisted, in the Innovation Award for Excellence in Student Experience category.

This year’s CUBO Awards will be presented at the CUBO summer conference, to be held in the grounds of Wivenhoe House on the Colchester Campus. The award winners will be announced by Essex snooker legend, Steve Davis.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Jules Pretty, who will be speaking at the dinner, said: “We are delighted to be among the finalists in two categories. In addition, to be chosen as hosts of the summer conference is a tremendous honour and everyone at Wivenhoe House is looking forward to this prestigious event.”

The award ceremony takes place on 3 July.
